5A Terminator amongst audio recorders
By M. A. Crosby
I've been running my R4 Pro for the last six years without a single problem. I've used it for hundreds of hours recording on the fly, it's menu system is simple, intuitive and easy to use. All the controls are easy to find and use without looking and one-handed operation is a breeze. My only issue with it is lack of broadcast wave files.I've used some of the cheap recorders that have come out lately and that's all they are. Cheap. The XLR inputs and headphone jacks have failed on me. The R4 has never had a problem and I've put it through some fair abuse. With the rise of SD cards as recording media, I get some weird looks from DITs when I hand them the USB cable. It's not the best recorder out there, but it's a workhorse.

5Nothing else in its class
By Boris Chang
Between the five to ten grand eight tracks and the camera-mountable two tracks, there really isn't anything in this range. The pre-amps are adequate (but you can send them to the OADE brothers for an upgrade). The controls are intuitive. I've used mine for hundreds of hours of location recording without a glitch. The eighty gig hard drive stores many full days worth of recording. Do keep in mind that recording higher than 24x48 limits you to two tracks only (unless you create a single polyphonic sound file which some editing software won't open).

4A couple of problems but have easy solutions.
By Mr. Patrick L. Kenmir
I was actually forced to purchase this SCSI card because I had purchased a XFX 790i Motherboard. I run SCSI Hard Drives, NOT SATA Hard Drives and my other SCSI Controller Card HAD to take up the center Graphic Card Slot so I was unable to run 3 way SLI, (3 Graphic Cards). I first used the cd Driver disk to make 32bit and 64bit drivers on floppies as required. I already had 3 seperate HOT SWAPPABLE SCSI hard drives with 3 different installed operating systems, XP-32, XP-64 and Vista-32. I removed my old SCSI card and installed the new SCSI 29320LPE PCIEx1 kit in the appropriate FIRST slot and restarted the computer to load the new driver. I loaded the floopy, per instructions and was actually able to get to the first graphic OS screen and then the blue screen of death arrived, rebooting the computer. No matter which floppy driver I used, the computer crashed. The floppy driver would NOT load! What was I doing wrong? After two hours of further frustraition, I went to bed. In the morning I decided to reinstall my old SCSI card and my computer started immediatly and showed both SCSI cards installed. The new SCSI card was found, but no driver was installed. It was just the card and no cable or hard drive was on it. I thought that since I already had a Windows OS installed, why not try to bypass the new floppy driver and try to install the new driver from the CD? Eureka, driver from the CD loaded and worked like a charm. I then loaded the CD driver to the other 2 Windows OS's and was rewarded with easy installation of the new driver. I then shut down the computer and removed my old SCSI card. I re-attached the SCSI cable to the new SCSI card and turned on the computer. EUREKA AGAIN, as the new SCSI card worked like it was supposed to. My old SCSI card that cost over $ 900.00, 2 channels and 40 SCSI drives when new 8 years ago, was replaced by a $ 250 single channel card that works perfectly. This new card also free's up a SLI graphic's card slot, so I now can run 3 way SLI. I LOVE THIS CARD !
