Quality product
By Marcus in the Darkus
I bought this pilot bearing puller after an unsuccessful attempt to use the grease/hydraulic pilot bearing removal method followed by a failed attempt to use a cheap Chines pilot bearing puller that I rented from Autozone and that promptly broke. That one had cast arms...these appear to be forged and/or of a much higher quality steel. For my application, I needed to pull a 12mm ID bearing from a BMW 318i (I was sold and installed the wromg size pilot bearing...ID should have been 14 mm) and this puller specs indicate a minimum ID of 0.5 inches (12.7 mm). I'm not sure this puller could fit in a 0.5" ID bearing without filing off some material to make it fit. I had to spend about a half hour with a file and a vice modifying this for my application but I was able to get it into a 12mm ID bearing and pull it with ease. Nothing quite like using the right tool for the job.I will never mess around with attempts to hydraulically remove bearings again...this thing works great and it will last several lifetimes. Expensive but worth it.
