Nice for the Price
By Drake-by-the-Lake
I have two Viewsonics, this one (Q20WB) and a non-widescreen VX922 (owned for over one year), and am quite pleased with both, and feel the brand in general is a good one. There are no dead pixels on either monitor, and no technical problems to report. Viewing angle is superb, without the "blind" effect of lesser LCDs. I am rather pleased that power consumption is low, because that saves me money. The Q20WB comes with only a 3' VGA cable and no DVI cable, but this was not a problem for me, because my PC only has a VGA port anyway. Windows 2000 had no problem whatsoever in installing and using this monitor. Of course, the first thing you do whenever you buy new hardware is hit the manufacturer's web site, [...], for the latest and greatest driver. I never use any installation CD, because it could be outdated by the time you receive it. The next step in the case of the Q20WB is to visit Windows' Control Panel | Display and change the Settings to 1680 x 1050, the recommended and highest resolution. All I can say is, WOW. I have more desktop space than I know what to do with now. The last step for me was turning the brightness down to about 80%, because like most new LCD monitors, the brightness is much more than most people need or want.As for the oft-repeated criticism of the "flimsy" stand, the stand is not stainless steel, but plastic, and might shake if your table shakes. I keep my monitor on a stable table protected from vibrations or gusts of wind or whatever it is that annoys the other critics. I really do not notice any problem with shaking or stability.I happen to really like the unobtrusive black frame and black stand, and the nice touch of placing the buttons underneath the screen, away from sight. Tech geeks complain of such things without grasping that it is a design issue, and the monitor looks much better this way. If only all manufacturers would catch on to the "Black is Beautiful" concept in electronics, because computer gizmo's are not necessarily meant to be seen. I prefer them in the background, among the shadows.Bottom Line: The price/value of this monitor is quite good, especially given the superior reliability and quality associated with the "Viewsonic" brand.

Good Monitor, but a few items to mention
By C. Rifenberg
Overall this is a great monitor. The quality is very good and I love the widescreen, however there are a couple minor negatives worth mentioning...1) There are no pass through USB ports on the monitor. Since I have had this in the past, I REALLY miss it. I feel that all monitors should have at least one pass-through USB port. Pass-throughs are great for flash drives.2) The monitor doesn't blank out, it remains on. If this is a user error, then the menu is not very intuitive. I set the "OSD Time Out" (whatever OSD is) to 15 minutes. I would assume that this means the monitor turns off in 15 minutes, however that is not the case. The monitor always remains on.3) The power button is in the middle of 4 other buttons on the bottom rim of the monitor. You would assume that the power button would be next to the power light, but it's not. This is cumbersome when you want to turn the power off at night (which wouldn't be an issue if the monitor would turn itself off!!!!).4) I needed to purchase the Neoflex LCD Stand so I could raise, lower, tilt, and turn the monitor. To me this is basic funtionality that should have been included. I purchased the stand based on other reviews and it works great.
