5Another high quality kayak from Advanced Elements...
By Jim
This is my third AE kayak (have the AdvancedFrame 10.5 solo & StraitEdge2 tandem) and after a 1 hour paddle, will probably be my favorite. The workmanship and high quality materials are top notch. I'm a decent sized guy at 6-2/215 and it fits very well. This kayak will work great for someone up to 6-6 or so due to it's large capacity and plenty of legroom. Tracking: very good.Stability: excellent. Speed: very good. Has a huge weight capacity of 450lbs so you can load it up with camping gear. Advanced Elements has some of the best kayaks in the market...regardless of price, and excellent customer service who will answer your questions immediately.

4First time kayaker
By Bob T.
I've done a lot of small boating like canoes and rowboats, but never kayaking before. I received my kayak yesterday and stared it all day until the air pump arrived today. Just for practice, I inflated it on my deck. Once I figured out how the spring valves and the twist valves work, I didn't have any problem. Be aware that not all pumps have the proper adapters for spring valves, especially those made by Sevlor and some other companies, so I would recommend only Advanced Elements pumps for this boat. Although the kayak is advertised to have 9 air bladders, only three of them are critical...the first and second side bladders, and the floor bladder. The first side bladder valve is outside the kayak and very obvious, however, the second valve is inside the kayak and I couldn't find it until I inflated the first bladder. These three critical bladders are the only ones that require any significant inflation effort, although that wasn't really much at all. I am 62 years old with lower back problems, and didn't have any trouble doing it. The other 6 non-critical bladders each require less than one stroke of the Advanced Elements pump to get to 1 psi. I found that the twist valves are tricky because starting to pump air into them tends to make them close unexpectantly and causes the pump to resist. I found that opening the twist valves only slightly, rather than full open, prevents this problem. The only problem I had in deflating the kayak was in not being able to count to nine. Once I learned that, the kayak folded up neatly and fit into the canvas bag.Tomorrow or soon after, depending on weather I'm going to take the kayak out for a spin on the PotomacLike I promised, I took the kayak out on the Potomac River for a little over an hour today in 91 degree heat. Where I went, the Potomac is about a mile wide and very smooth. The kayak tracks very well and makes great speed. I tried to find some sports boats with big wakes, but there wern't any today. I guess the only problem I had was preparing the kayak in the heat. I had some trouble with the twist valves which caused me to spend a lot of time in the hot sun sweating bullets. I think that 6 of the 9 bladders could be inflated by mouth easier than by using a pump because the pump requires less than one stroke before the pressures reaches 1 psi. My 110 lb wife also tried it out and didn't have any trouble but says she wants to order the shorter version. So far, I'm really glad I got this product and can't wait to take it on a more turbulent river with rapids.I took my kayak out on the Potomac today for three hours in 93+ degrees heat. The worst part was setting it up and packing it in the heat. Out on the water, it was wonderful. Several people at the marina asked my why I would want an inflatable when rigid kayaks are much less trouble. I just told them that when I travel by car, I don't want to have a boat on the roof of my car. It doesn't always make a great impression with business clients. My wife got her 10.5 foot kayak today and we set it up on our porch. What a difference in weight! The actual differance may not look like much, but the smaller one sure feels a lot lighter when you carry it. However, I noted that the smaller kayak does not have anywhere near the internal storage room that the Expedition has. Also, I've established a method of getting the kayaks back into the bag which works well for me. First, fold the kayak normally and place it so that part to go in the bottom of the bag is up. Then pull the bag down over the kayak as far as you can. Then flip the bag and kayak over and pull the cover up to its maximum extent. Then here's the real secret...put the bag on its side and kneel on it. You will find that the zipper closes fairly easily. So far I've only done still-water kayaking (not counting boat wakes). I plan to take my Expedition on a river trip with class 1 to 3 rapids in the near future. I've done class 1 to 4 in rafts, so it should be interesting to see how it works in a kayak.Since the above, I've been on the Potomac several times in various locations in this kayak...but not whitewater yet. Since the top fabric is definitely not waterproof, I suggest using a heavy application of Scotch Guard on it...that worked for me. However even the Scotch Guard will not prevent water from coming through the zippers. I encountered some rough water last week which broke over the bow quite frequently. No water came through the Scotch Guarded fabric, but I had a waterproof pack fastened in the front bungee area which created a depression. Obviously, the water tended to pool there and came right through the zipper onto my legs. It was not a big problem, but it was cold and uncomfortable. In spite of the 18-inch waves and 2-foot swells, I never had any feeling that the kayak might flip over, even when I was sideways to the waves.I've also done some rigid kayaking recently and one big difference I've noticed is that my inflatable kayak has a much narrower cockpit because of the air bladders on either side. So if you've got a wide bottom, or simply like to twist around in the cockpit to access the rear storage area, you may want to stick to rigid kayaks.

4A review from a different perspective...call it 3 and a half stars.
By Kernman
I was prepared to write a long, in-depth and detailed review of this kayak and it's features but I decided to stick to the basics and provide real world conditions I have experienced in the month I have had the Expedition. If you choose to stop reading this review from this point forward, let me leave you with one thought...The Advanced Elements Expedition is never the same experience twice. In this case, that's a bad thing.First off, you should know I have no experience with any other kayak. I did not test any others and bought the Expedition site unseen from Amazon. My main reasoning for purchasing a kayak was for a unique form of fitness not for recreation. I wanted something that would allow me to increase my heart rate, strengthen my shoulders and core, burn some calories, and ultimately lose weight. I have taken this kayak out a lot in the first month - an average of 3 times per week for 4 weeks. The majority of my paddling has taken place on a large lake in both calm, glassy conditions and with a light wind chop. I have also recently taken it on a swift moving river with a small amount of white water - probably Class 2.The very nature of a folding kayak lends itself to great portability but each time you fold and unfold it something will shift or reposition. I spend a great deal of time during setup moving, squeezing, dragging, and turning the inflation chambers and floor to make sure it lines up just right. If you don't and it's slightly off center or the main chamber is kinked you will not track in a straight line. Other reviewers have praised how well this boat tracks but only 2 times I can think of did it move straight when coasting. Like a car with suspension problems the Expedition either pushes to the right or pulls to the left. Some days are worse than others. One day I can go out and have a nearly effortless time but the very next, following the exact same setup routine I end up working twice as hard trying to keep it straight with each stroke. Last Saturday after setup the kayak looked perfect, everything was aligned, inflation pressure was dead on, and the skeg on the bottom was straight - but for every stroke to the left I took two strokes on the right because it wanted to swing hard to starboard. It was so frustrating I quit after 15 minutes. Upon inspection I could see no visible reason for the drift. But on Sunday - same setup, same conditions, same everything and, you guessed it, straight as an arrow. If you're not committed to spending a little extra time when unpacking it to get everything aligned just right you could end up being frustrated. Personally I would rather have the same predictable ride each and every time. You won't get that with an inflatable and you need to know that going in.Expedition supporters will undoubtedly question whether or not I have been following instructions and I can assure you I have been. Not only have I committed the manual to memory but I have been an active participant on the Advanced Elements website and make use of their user group site regularly and I have talked with the company directly as well. Keep in mind, I'm not bashing this kayak, I'm just stating facts I have experienced. I still like it overall. Now having said all that, I don't think you can find a much better value. I bought mine the day Amazon just happened to be having an extra sale. I only paid $479. You would be hard pressed to find a 13' touring kayak for that price anywhere. But there is a big "gotcha." If you are on a budget and expect to become a regular veteran paddler expect that price to double once you factor in all the other gear you will need. By the time you add a class III life vest, waterproof jacket or shirt, water shoes, a paddle, dry bags, and a few other odds and ends like a spare paddle (if your main paddle slips away from you) you will be in for about $850. Some things you simply can't skimp on. Safety is important - especially if you start your paddling adventures in the dead of winter like I did. One spill in 35 degree water and you only have about 15 minutes to find safety and warmth before hypothermia sets in. Again, that's not complaining just something you need to be aware of when you start thinking about your overall budget. The Expedition keeps you warm and cozy though and the fact it's inflatable means it is comfortable - no hard spots. I continue to be amazed at how rigid this boat is despite that fact it's full of air.Okay, so where does that leave this review? For me it's easy. No matter how frustrating the setup process is (like others have described as well) and no matter ho much energy I expend inflating it with the hand pump all of the negatives are neutralized completely by the fact that you can fold it up and take it with you anywhere! I love knowing that I can store this thing in my car and spontaneously explore the local waterways wherever I am. You can't do that with a plastic kayak and have to plan ahead. Just keep you paddling gear and kayak together and you''re ready to explore. It fits in the back of my pickup truck or in my wife's Honda Accord. So despite the challenges, I would recommend this kayak to anyone wanting to have something easy to transport. It's a little more work to achieve a smooth ride but provides the freedom to explore that others don't.I hope this was helpful. Happy paddling.

4Very good cream.
By windiciti
Used it for years until they stopped importing it in the US. You can also can get it in Europe, but only in French Caribbean islands. I replaced with an Estee L. cream, but I was thrilled to find Suractif face and eye cream on Amazon. It is more refined, and IMO does not clog the pores. Worth the price for mature skin.

5Great Powerhead For The Money
By Cavatina
After using Maxi jets for 2 years, I switched to the Koralia. These powerheads feature a strong magnet to keep the device on the glass. No more failing suction cups! The waterflow "spread" is much greater, I notice the corals are flourishing. The Maxi jets direct water directly, which is not good for many corals that like a lower flow. I have 2 in a 75 gallon tank, a Koralia 4 and the 3, facing each other. This has worked out beautifully. Everyone is happy! I paid $36.20.

We have two of these in our marine aquarium that were purchased from here. Amazon has much better prices than the local retailers do and shipping is fast. The magnets are great for positioning and help make placement more versatile.

4Great gift for my nephew!
By KAPCD
My 10 yr old nephew asked for this for Christmas and he loved it! After all of the excitement of opening gifts was over and the adults were talking and preparing food, he had something to keep him happy for hours. He has many different lego sets and loves them all. It is amazing how he can read the instructions and build these wonderful toys and then have hours of fun playing with them. Listen, what better way to train a man to read the instructions at an early age? Some lucky lady will be thankful for that later on!

2Looks good, but that's about it
By G. Ryan Cole
I bought this at Circuit City, to go with my new Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-40S4100 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV. I was assured that it was universal and would work perfectly well with the TV I bought; apparently the sales rep had no clue what he was talking about.First off, the assembly instructions are terrible, and the mounting instructions are even worse. It comes with far more pieces than you'll use, and the instructions are often vague about which pieces are which. I ended up having to backtrack during the assembly process (not much, but enough to be annoying) a few times, which meant disassembling something after realizing I had done it incorrectly. The mounting instructions, because they are "universal," are ambiguous and confusing. You get literally no visual cues about which pieces to use. It says things like, "Determine which piece is appropriate for your TV," and then moves on to the next step. I don't know how we're meant to determine which parts are appropriate, since the included parts aren't listed or labeled. I ended up having to use trial and error to determine which of the many types of screws and brackets I'd need to use. I only actually needed two brackets and a handful of screws, out of the dozens of pieces in the assembly kit. This could be forgiven if the mounting kit were truly universal. It's not. Although my TV is now mounted, the mounting bracket juts out in front of all my connection ports. Two HDMI ports, the VGA port, and all the composite ports are rendered practically useless by this piece. There's a space of about two inches between the bracket and the ports, so some connectors have just enough room to fit, but others (like a VGA cable) don't. And for the ones that do fit, I have to insert them at an angle, coming into the port with a swooping motion. Once they're in, I'm scared to try to pull them out for fear of damaging the ports, since it's impossible to pull them straight out. The only other option is to unmount the TV and remove the bracket every time you want to plug in or unplug a device, and you may find remounting impossible once you plug in certain devices.(This could, of course, be Sony's not-so-subtle hint that you should buy one of their mounting brackets instead of something like this. But I'm not aware of a stand/shelving unit combo made by Sony, and I don't want my TV mounted to the wall.)The stand itself is a little wobbly once you've got it all assembled. This is true even without a TV mounted on it. Not only do the back feet not hit the ground, but the glass shelves are attached by a single screw at the center in the back. The rubber stoppers don't do much to keep them in place if you accidentally bump into the unit (or if, say, you have cats that like to jump on all your furniture).Dense instructions and flimsiness aside, this thing does what it's supposed to do. It'll mount a wide range of TVs, and it has shelves for your other devices. But the idea of a universal mount, it seems to me, is not practical, and I wish I'd bought a non mounting unit and just used the base stand that came with my TV. Either do that or use a wall mount. There is no advantage to having your TV mounted on one of these things.

5HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT
By David F. John
* High gloss black goes perfectly with many current TVs and components* Smart design offers ample space for components, good viewing height* Easy assembly with minimal tools* Strong frame gives little distortion when moving or mounting. With heavy screens, you may wish to leave out spacers on top mounting bracket to align screen closer to vertical.* Mounting bracket provides some height adjustment of screen, depending on location of mounting sites on your TV. Plenty of hardware provided for different mounting options.

5Perfect mounting station & looks elegant
By Kanishk Rastogi
This company Bell'O designs these stands which are very contemporary and elegant. I have mounted my new Samsung LN46A750 and it fits perfect. Here is my review:Pros:-Very easy to assemble. Mostly by one person. You might need some support in assembling the bottom pieces to the main stand.- Looks fantastic and blends in perfect with the contemporary style.- Steel & glasses are scratch resistant- Cable management system consists of two metallic covers on the main frame pillar to hide cables. Long cable might still stick out from bottom. Not a big deal though.- The TV mounting instructions are helpful and a lot of different hardware is provided to mount TVs of various sizes depending on their VESA specification (mounting configuration/hole spacing at back)Cons:- A bit heavy to carry/move alone. Take precaution while moving around in house.I will be checking my mounted tv for stability & safety for a few days to make sure, it does not slip down. ( don't have to do it really)You have figure out the best fit mounting and hardware yourself. The delivery time at Amazon is 1 to 2 months, so I had to cancel my order. You can get it from other online stores at a cheaper price( even with shipping & taxes included) and get it in 2-3 days.

5Totally 100% Amazingly COOL!!
By Learning All The Time
My ten year old son got this for Christmas, and finally assembled it during spring break. He was not very excited by the picture on the box, but I encouraged him to put it together and now it is his favorite ship ever. It's almost organic looking, with parts that move in an insectozoid (sp) fashion. The set also comes with cool green aliens, and a small space station that shoots missiles, and my son has been playing with it nonstop.I am thoroughly impressed by this ship myself. The green tendril things make it look positively creepy, in a way that my kids just love. We have several Lego spaceships/shuttlecrafts and this is, in my opinion, the best.Even the most jaded lego spaceship lover is bound to be wowed by this wonderful Mars Mission Alien Mothership.

5Awesome ship, hours of fun!
By c2
This is such a COOL toy! If you're buyig it for someone on the low end of the age scale, it will take them a little while to put it together but once it's done, well, wow! That missile shooter from the astronauts is a blast. We have a ton of fun blowing up the martians and grabbing the energy crystals. But, the aliens also have their missiles from the mother ship and well, it's just plain cool putting them in the cockpit and spinning them around on their swivel chairs. A lot of time and thought went into designing this toy and it's just nothing short of awesome! Highly, highly recommend!

5Important Element of the Advanced Element Kayak
By A. Longo
When we purchased our Advanced Element tandem kayak (inflatable), it was recommended that we purchase a backbone accessory. However, it was not available at the store where we made our initial purchase. We tried our kayak one time without the back-bone, and it was un-satisfactory in the way it handled. We were somewhat disappointed in our purchase. We ordered the back-bone and watched the video on youTube as to how to install it during the set-up process. The kayak now handles very well. The back-one goes under the inflatable sub-floor of the kayak, and one would think this would promote a discomfort factor. However, while you can sense the added stability, one is not aware of its presence by the feel of the thing.

The back bone makes the Kayac stiffer but you can feel it when you sit to paddle, it is really a back bone.

4Great, but....
By Sage Hunter
The backbone makes sense. When it is installed it is obvious that the kayak has better hull lines and therefore should track better. Since I have never used the AE Convertible without the backbone I can't speak from personal experience. The but, however, is that I believe getting the backbone properly installed just about doubles your time for setting up the kayak.

5Not just another Hogwarts...
By A. West
For the third addition to the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle, we are treated to a true addition. The set matches up quite nicely with previous offerings from the LEGO line and offers plenty of new Hogwarts adventure to make it feel like a truly new location. This set was purchased for my 8 year old daughter on her birthday. The delightful elements, colors and unique characters sold it for her wish list. As her father and a fan of all things LEGO, naturally we built it together. Together we spent 2 1/2 hours on the construction, and each portion of the set is contained in numbered bags that you do not open until you reach the step in the construction that requires those parts. That limits confusion; after all it is 943 pieces. When I was a kid the largest set I had was probably only half that size. A benefit to my daughter was the inclusion of no fewer than three female minifigures, two with LEGO hair! That's always a plus for her ;)Though it is large and can take some time to build it is very educational. Structures and supports are all well used in this set. The step by step build process meant that at certain points in the process my daughter could have a completed tower, Herbology Classroom or another portion of the set already complete for a few moments of diversion. Older kids, and adults will likely have no trouble at all with the time it takes. Younger kids naturally are going to need a little help or they might find it overwhelming.A great LEGO set, full of exploration, character and fun. Definitely a family moment. You'll be eager to play with your child with this one. Or just get one for yourself. It's great.

4That's not just good, its brilliant
By angie Martin
Okay, there is another Hogwarts Castle available. however, with its price being nearly $500. I think this smaller version is just as fantastic! My son likes to pretend he is Harry or Ron on one of their wild adventures thru. the castle. He also likes the fact you can divide the castle into sections and carry one peice at a time. I recommend this Lego if you like Harry and his friends as much as we do.My only concern would be to be very careful, as any with any Lego, the castle can come apart if played with too rough.

5FUN!
By A. J. Mcdonald
This is the first big Lego set I have bought for my kids, who are 7 & 11. We worked together to build it and I have to say that the instructions were very well done. Even my 7yo was able to follow them with just minimal help.I agree with the previous poster, that the numbering of the bags was a plus. And with all the mini figures included, my kids will actually be PLAYING with this set instead of just building it and setting it on a shelf to collect dust.I was a huge Lego fan as a kid and this set brought back the fun.

5Awesome ride!!!
By La Grande Baker
I just purchased this kayak and tried it out on the Nantahala River in western NC last week. Amazingly fast! Slices right through the whitewater with ease, not tippy at all. Handles great, and I am a novice kayaker, so it would be a great product for beginners. The only complaint is the backrest, it's not very comfortable. I am looking for something to substitute there. I had it positioned where my legs had plenty of room, and the balance and weight distribution were ideal, yet my lower back was not happy at the end of several hours of paddling. It's easy to inflate, took me only about 5 minutes with a hand pump. Overall, I'd highly recommend it for anyone wanting fun on a river or the ocean.

5Very pleased with the AE Straitedge kayak
By K. Saucier
We purchased a pair of one man AE Straitedge inflatable kayaks and just took them out for their maiden voyage. Paddled up a calm river a couple miles and back down again and really were pleased with them. With the dual action hand pump, they go up quickly. We got one with a gauge so we know when we reach the proper psi for the different sections. The kayak comes pretty much assembled so you just inflate and go. Just be sure you inflate it enough. We found it inflates more evenly in the ends (bow & stern)if you alternate filling air in the two outer sections until you get to full inflation.Very stable. Fun to manuever compared to our canoe days. Easy to get into. Hardest part is getting out when you are sitting ground level compared to a canoe.Plenty of places to clip things on to secure them. One tip - be sure it is totally dry in every little corner before packing away. Inflate at home and let sit to dry a couple days and inspect well. Moisture can hide and cause mold.Second trial coming in another week - yippee.

5Awesome!
By Mrs. Summers
I have had this kayak for two months now, and have had it on both flat and whitewater. It is so comfortable (other than the backrest, which doesn't give much support) and easy to use. I only recommend that when buying a paddle for this kayak, that it be 230 cm in length or greater as the kayak is wider than most.It rides so well, feels secure and is very durable. I got it caught on a rock in a rapid, had to swim out and then throw rope it in. It went over the rock, and several others as well as a small tree and came out of the water without even a scuff or scratch. And it's rated for up to class III whitewater, so you can take it almost anywhere.I love it and I recommend it to anyone interested in inflatable kayaking.

4Greatly anticipated, but then ignored
By Stuart|Anne
When my son saw this in the store he immediately clamped himself on to it as if it were his salvation. Despite his parent's failure to cave into to his demands, Santa remembered and this showed up at Christmas. For our son (5 at the time) who is an avid lego builder the building was not hard, he had it together pretty quickly. However in terms of play it simply wasn't that exciting. The range of motion of the crane is limited, it simply goes up and down. While this may be realistic of a container loader its not very gratifying.A recent birthday brought LEGO City XXL Mobile Crane which is more complicated (but not probably harder to build), and more expensive, but much more versitile in terms of play.

4Fun Toy, But Not for Little Kids
By J. Levin
The LEGO Container Stacker is a fun toy, once built. This is the kind of toy that a smaller child can't put together alone, so it's not very educational until a child is at least 8. After it was constructed, my son liked to lift the container, put things in it, and drive the truck, but the concept of building was pretty lost on him. I also bought him the LEGO Road Construction Set at the same time and he liked that a lot better because it allowed him to build different things, not just the single container stacker. Overall, a good product but for older children only.

5Legos Durable and Fun
By J. Patrick
My son loves Legos and they are made very well. He has spent hours playing with them. If your son likes to build then Legos are great for them.

52007 M109R Saddlebags
By Pete Martinez
I received this item, along with the recommended OEM saddlebag supports. Installation went well but not without some thought. The only concern I had was with the saddlebag installation instructions. When installing the saddlebags, the instructions were vague when referring to the selection of required spacers and the length of the bolts. I had to remove and re-install bolts and spacers, while trying not to scratch the fender or drop the saddlebag during the numerous attempts to align the supports. My advice to all that purchase these supports and their recommended saddlebags is to first, have an assistant provide the extra hands required to determine the correct hardware and secondly, ensure that once you install your saddlebags and supports, keep all of the extra hardware just in case you decide to mount a backrest or luggage rack.Otherwise, an excellent product and fair pricing. Actually, it was the cheapest price online (currently).Pete
