Exactly what we needed
By Holly K
Perfect match, good quality and price plus I didn't have to go in search of it in a brick and mortar store. What else can you say about a filter? We did look at our trusted local hardware store but they didn't stock the correct Lennox filter so we bought one that was close... well, 1/2 inch difference matters a lot on this type of product so be careful. From now on, we'll look here first !

MERV 11 good for me, MERV Rating below review
By Drew Thurman
If you want to see more about MERV ratings see below my product review.I use these in my Hybrid Lennox Gas/Electric heat pump. This is the second time I have ordered replacement filters from Amazon. My HVAC contractor actually provides free filters along with their regular maintenance visits (part of the service plan from purchasing the Lennox unit brand new) but I have allergies to dust so I just have them install these instead. The filters they provide for free do not have as high of a MERV rating so I prefer to buy my own. I have basic allergies to pollen and dust so MERV 11 seems to be the reasonable priced filter that fits my needs but isn't so expensive. Anything with a higher MERV rating costs more than I wish to pay and I have noticed that MERV 11 filters cut out enough of the things that bother me. I suppose the cool thing is that if you are a complete germaphobe you can always buy a filter with a higher MERV rating which will get you closer to the cost prohibitive "true" HEPA standard. These filters have come down in price. I have paid as much of $80+ for two plus shipping but these were less than that. I think it is the same seller/manufacturer. They look identical if they aren't. Again because of my allergies I keep my house very clean and free of dust. I don't have carpet and have very few rugs. These filters typically last around 6 months or longer. If you have pets, children, lots of shag carpet, bake all the time, remodel and/or sand drywall then you may wish to replace them more frequently.MERV: MINIMUM EFFICIENCY REPORTING VALUE (from Wikipedia)MERV rating is a measurement scale designed in 1987 by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to rate the effectiveness of air filters. The scale "represents a quantum leap in the precision and accuracy of air-cleaner ratings" and allows for improved health, reduced cost and energy efficiency in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) design. For example, a HEPA filter is often impractical in central HVAC systems due to the large pressure drop the dense filter material causes. Experiments indicate that less obstructive, medium-efficiency filters of MERV 7 to 13 are almost as effective as true HEPA filters at removing allergens, with much lower associated system and operating costs.1-4 Used in residential window AC units, FILTERS: Pollen, dust mites, cockroach debris, sanding dust, spray paint dust, textile fibers, carpet fibers5-8 Used in better residential, general commercial, industrial workplaces. FILTERS: Mold, spores, dust mite debris, cat and dog dander, hair spray, fabric protector, dusting aids, pudding mix9-12 Used in superior residential, better commercial, hospital laboratories. FILTERS: Legionella, Humidifier dust, Lead dust, Milled flour, Auto emission particulates, Nebulizer droplets13-16 Used in hospital and general surgery.
