Very Nice
By Daniel Ross
I own a photography studio and bought 4 different versions of these types of stands to display our wedding photography albums. Of the 4 I got and played with, this was the best. Here's why:1. Sturdy construction - This is a solid piece. I feel like it will last many years, even with customers constantly picking up and putting albums back down on it.2. Nice looking - It is very basic, but they did a nice job with the stain and construction. It looks like the same quality you would get with furniture, not some homemade thing that has blotchy stain or all the pieces aren't cut just right. It looks professionally made.3. Smooth turning - The swivel mechanism is underneath and it rotates 360 degrees, they don't show it to you in the photos. However, it is very smooth in turning and, again, feels sturdy and well made. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of point number 3 above. It is so smooth and easy to turn, I can see where it might become a little aggravating that the slightest bump will move it to a position you don't want. If they were to add a position lock to it, then it would be perfect.Bottom line: Good looker and solid construction. Only one minor flaw, in my opinion.

Solid Book Stand - Sensitive Swivel
By Jonathan White
The book stand is solid and well built. My only complaint is the swivel device which allows the stand to swing is way to sensentive - therefore unless the shelf or other area you place the stand is exactly level the stand will not allow the book to faces you - it will shift left or right on its own and that can be very annoying.

Levenger is more expensive, but much better
By coolreviewer1
Some wrote below "better than I expected." This is not better than I expected. The wood is stained well, but is not a heavy hardwood. I have the dark cherry one, and own cherry furniture and some cherry-stained non-cherry furniture. This stand is not even close to cherry in looks. If you hope that it matches any cherry furniture you might own--like a cherry desk--it will look cheap in comparison.Although it does hold my Oxford English dictionary, and I like the swivel (as long as it's on a flat desk, otherwise it will swivel around to it's lowest gravity position on its own, every time, as others have written), I agree with others: the tab at the bottom should be slightly wider. As it is, it's very thin and barely holds a large book like the Oxford. It stands out from the flat surface only by 1/4 inch or so--should be more generous to give a better purchase for the book and would still not interfere with page turns.I own a Levenger "desk", an Ergodesk or Ergo Desk, you can google it, and it's much more expensive at $140 or so, but it really is an heirloom. Solid wood, heavy, adjustable tilt, back extra book holder (hard to describe, you have to see it), and it's a thing of true beauty. If someone is not cash limited and simply wants the best, Levenger's book stand is it.I would say this stand is passable, I will use it, it does hood my dictionary (barely) and I have a flat desk so it tends not to over swivel too much. I would not buy another one, though.I will compliment the shipping of the product. Jumbo, well-protected box and fast shipping.Have a wonderful day
