Best Fishing Boat Ever. 14 Years Old and Still Works Like a Champ.
By BigJack
I did not purchase this awesome little 8 foot pond jumper from Amazon, but I'm sure Amazon's customer service would have been great because I'm a die hard loyal customer and they have never done me wrong. I purchased this boat at a Wal-Mart in Hopkinsville, KY in 1998 for $350.00, and I gotta tell ya, it's the best fishing boat I've ever owned. To this day it still works like a champ. After 14 years of fishing in this boat across the country from Tennessee to Washington State, it still has no leaks, no cracking, typical wear and tear (slight scrapes and scratches) from fishing but they're minor because this little sun dolphin is so durable and built to last. With a Minkota Endura trolling motor an Everstart deep cycle battery, I'm able to fish anywhere I want. I've found so many honey holes full of fish that the typical fishing motored outboards cannot access. I'm a big guy (6'4 and 230 lbs) and with a guy my size and my dad being average height and weight, we're both able to stand up in the boat. It's absolutely stable and with two men sitting or standing up in it, it can float on 7 inches of water without scraping the bottom. Some guys feel like the king of the water with their huge outboard boats, but I beg to differ. When you fish in this boat, you'll will feel like the master of the water because you can literally go and fish anywhere, while the others are limited to deeper waters. That and it takes me only 2 minutes to pull the boat out of the bed of my truck, put the trolling motor on, park the truck, hop in this boat, and get to fishing. Best investment I've ever made. Not only do I use this boat for fishing, I use it for duck and goose hunting as well. Low to zero maintenance required for this boat. Anyone who purchases this boat will not be disappointed. I'm a huge fan of Sun Dolphin after using this 8 foot pond jumper for so long.

I ordered the boat on 08 April, 2012 and received it about 16 days later. To my surprise it was delivered in a Sprinter Van and both the boat and the pallet were up on their sides instead of laying flat. Never-the-less, it was still in impeccable condition (Other than a minor, superficial scratch in the hull. No big deal even for one who suffers from O.C.D. like I do). I've had it on a lake (Puddingstone Resivoir) once. Here's is what you need to know: If you go fishing like I did, invest in an anchor. The breeze blew me around and I was going back and forth to the trolling motor to stay away from some hazards. A 30 lb. thrust trolling motor may seem inadequate. It was comfortable enough for me (a 5'8" 145 lb. guy) with two rods and my tackle but it would be very questionable sharing an 8'6" space with another fisherman. Hmmmmm? I haven't taken it out a 2nd time yet because it's not registered. According to CA law, any motorized boat must be registered even if you take it on one of those privately owned lakes. I'm not going to paddle around with one oar. I just got a response from the DMV 6 weeks after sending in my application for registration which I downloaded from dmv.ca.gov. and just mailed out the $29 registration fee yesterday. So I guess I'll have it back on a lake in 6 more weeks? Overall I think it was a great purchase from Amazon and the boat is surprisingly stable on the water. The High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)seems durable enough. It's light enough for 2 people to carry easily but I have a 4'x 8' utility trailer which I just back into the water and it floats right off. Recommend it I would.
