High quality at a reasonable price

It seems that the rosewood has been replaced by American walnut with a rich chocolate brown color. As like all of Helle's laminated blades, the Harmoni arrives razor sharp and will stay that way with minimal care. The generous handle is among the most comfortable in Helle's line - and the Harmoni is no longer in their catalog. The guard is small, just enough to protect the fingers without getting in the way, and the walnut is protected by a nickel-silver bolster, tightly fit to the blade. The back-sewn leather sheath offers a snug fit to the knife, with a metal band that assures the fit by not allowing the leather to stretch out of shape. The workmanship on these knives is top rate and should last a lifetime of use, and all the shop work is done in Norway. I like the fact that they use natural woods, sometimes with impressive figure, since they feel good in the hand, offering a warm grip in colder temperatures. If there's a problem with these knives, it's that it can come addictive, buying and trying different models. Shop around; I paid $60 + s&h. For me, the Harmoni is one of their finest.

I'd concur first review that the danger with Helle is them being addictive. This is my favorite for general use. The leather belt loop did come off for me, there are two rivets in the metal strap that hold it and when I sat down wearing it they tore out, BUT...that allowed me to rework the loop to a different configuration using nylon and braiding it on to the sheath and I'm actually far more pleased with the revised than the original. Mine seems to have a slightly longer handle than the one in the picture, fits very comfortably in my XL glove hand. I've given Helle knives to all my family and a few friends as working outdoor knives, they're pretty much all I buy in fixed blades any more.
