Product Description

Hisonic UHF dual-Channel Wireless System provides you with proven performance and durability in a variety of settings, from churches to nightclubs to gymnasiums, from concert halls to broadcast booths and stadiums. Each HSU482 Series UHF wireless microphone system includes one receiver and two handheld transmitters, each of the transmitters have 48 selectable channels to match with those of the receiver for easy system expansion and minimized interference. The handheld microphone has a back-lit LCD display that shows you channel #, frequency and battery strength, you can adjust the frequencies by pressing the "?" and "?" buttons. To select channels on the receiver, you can either do it manually or press the "Auto" button on the receiver so it will scan the channels automatically and lock on the channel that matches the frequency on the transmitter. This system has a total of three audio outputs, one of which is mixed output with standard 1/4" jack, the other two are balanced individual XLR outputs for each channel. There are two individual squelch controls on the back of the receiver. The HSU482 is designed an half-size for a standard 19" rack, so you can install two systems side by side to fit a rack and you can use up to 4 microphones at the same time provided that they are at different frequencies. Rack-mountable brackets and screws and instructions are included.

Initial observations:1. Documentation is pretty weak - if you understand frequencies and frequency bands, you will figure out there is an A and B band - 48 channels each.2. Mics are light weight, yet seem to be pretty solid. Display is good showing battery power, channel or frequency, and mute status. Barrel noise when inserting in mic stand is a little higher than with the Shure or Audio Technica. Easy to mute the mic while doing such!3. Receiver is standard with combined quarter inch output where the channel volume works for each mic, or individual XLR channels which bypass the volume capability. Auto scan works well at finding the mic. The XLR output is EXTREMELY hot. I had to cut back to TRIM to just a hair off MAX. They will distort rather easily if not properly trimmed. I have ordered some DB inline PADS to cut back on the XLR output into the mixer. The mics are very clear and not overtly sensitive. They appear to be a kind of knockoff or the Shure87 series. I have done side by side comparisons with Audio Technica 600 series handheld and Shure PGX-SM58 and found that I personally prefer the sound over the AT - somewhat better, but over the Shure the Hisonic was much clearer and more pronounced. This was testing via the Bose L1M1 system with a Phonic Helix FW MKII mixer. This was not a "technical" spec test, but a simply audio observation. The vocals when done with backing trax definitely stood out from the mix.The batteries after 4 hours of use still show a "full" charge. Will have to use the mics more to see how accurate the metering is on this function. This is the second "non-america" branded item I have considered purchasing. The first being the mixer previously mentioned and now these mics. To this point, having used and tested them for over a week and trying to find some reason why I would not like them or use them, I haven't as of yet, found that reason. One nice feature of ordering from Hisonic is the 30 day trial period. If you don't like the product, send it back for a refund. This should provide some comfort in at least "trying" this brand the this model. Remember, this review is only for the HSU482HT and may not be indicative of other models or mics from Hisonic.

5better than expected
By M. Sayers
Bought this product for church 3 months ago and they work great with regular use. The microphones are light but have so far proved stronger than I first thought. There is no feedback as with some other mics and even being near to the airport, we have had no interference from any radio transmissions. My only regret is that I was not able to purchase this set with both the hand held and headset/lapel mics in one. They can be purchased seperately but not through amazon. you'll have to contact the company and place an order over the phone. A bit too much hassel for me.Update: June 2012. Use these every week. Still going strong, no signal drop off. Still a great chioce.

Hisonic 48-Channel Dual UHF Wireless Microphone, HSU-482HTThis product is easy to install, sound quality is good.Improvement area is for the manufacturer to improve the operation manual which is not clear to the users in several areas. Otherwise this product should be rated as a five stars.
