Excellent quality and value

I did quite a bit of research on trekking poles and these turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. The price is very reasonable, with most other extendable trekking poles costing well over $100. The lower extension grips come in very handy especially when walking side hill. You can very quickly slide one hand down on the uphill pole which evens out the height between the two and continue on without making physical adjustments using the FlickLocks. These poles are also extremely light yet very durable. I purchased the 140 cm version which are actually slightly lighter, by 0.5oz, but a bit longer, by 2 in when collapsed, in comparison to the 125cm compact version. I have used these now for a few weeks in both dry conditions and in snow. I use these to hike up mountains and paraglide down, so the light weight and small size when collapsed is very beneficial. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who is looking for a lightweight but rugged trekking pole at a great price!Edit as of 25 Feb 09-I still am very pleased with these poles but I have one thing to add. If you are going to be using them for trekking in deep, crusty snow the poles are not quite rugged enough for repeated use in these conditions. I found that if you plant the pole and it sinks in to the snow, it will bend slightly when you walk forward and pull it out. Over many miles of this repeated stress, I discovered that there was a slight bend in the lower portion of the poles. I wouldn't have noticed this at all, except that it was a bit more difficult to slide the poles closed in the retracted position because they were rubbing as a result of the slight bend. I was able to apply some opposite pressure on the lower portion and rectify the issue.I would change my rating to 4 stars because of this, but I would still highly recommend these poles to anyone who will be hiking in most any conditions besides deep, heavy snow. The weight of these poles is excellent as you barley realize that you are carrying them.
