Good, but a bit disappointing
By David
Lego Ferris Wheel is not a bad toy for the price ($70) considering how much some items can be. My 8 year old and I had a couple of fun days putting it together (we haven't attempted to make the bridge or crane). Looks really neat and really visually appealing. Our problems 1) there was only ONE rubber band that came with the kit (!) and even that wasn't strong enough or provided enough tension to make the thing work. Without the proper rubber band, the motor runs, but nothing happens. We substitued our own rubber band 2) the cars bottoms fall off - it's fairly flimsy 3) when it's actually running, it's tricky to keep the wheels from scrapping against the sides of the frame, and when that happens, the wheel won't turn 4) mini figs can't fit in it -- Lego give you little tiny "pretend" people. Sort of disappointing.Overall we give it a 2 (or 2 1/2).

Great Building Experience
By Warren H.
My six year old son got this for Christmas and he absolutely loved putting it together. So far he has only put together the ferris wheel and it was very challenging. It took him about seven hours but when it was done it worked exactly as the instructions had described. However, it has to be fine tuned. After he assembled it he had some of the same issues that a previous reviewer had with the rubber band not having proper tension and some parts scraping against the sides causing it to be unstable, but this is all a part of engineering. I went back over the assembled wheel and showed him how some of the parts weren't snapped tightly enough and he had slightly misaligned a couple of areas. We corrected these areas in about two minutes and the ferris wheel worked completely as described. In the end, there were no rubber band tension issues and we had a very stable ferris wheel. The slight issues that arose were great for building my son's troubleshooting skills. He learned that projects don't always come out perfectly the first time around and that you have to fine tune your projects to get them right in the end. I would highly recommend this product.

Great pieces, but the ferris wheel design is too flimsy
By Jesse D. Lockhart
The title says it all, really. It's an interesting set, and at the sale price I paid for it, I feel that it was worthwhile for the pieces it came with. However, the wheel itself seemed to be so flimsy that I couldn't transport it from one room to another without pieces falling off. It was also very difficult to balance the wheel correctly in the first place.I didn't attempt either of the other designs included in the instructions, although I did assemble my own windmill from the pieces. I just feel that the ferris wheel itself was quite a letdown, especially compared to the normally sturdy nature of Lego products.
