4Robinair 10994 Heater Blanket for Refrigerant Tank
By SJK
I have this Robinair heating blanket, but thankfully don't need to use it very often. It can sometimes come in handy though to speed up cold weather charging and help get the last remaining vapor out of an otherwise almost empty cylinder. It's made of a red rubber mat material that measures approximately 27" long X 6" wide with imbedded heating coils. It wraps around the sides of the tank and has an 18" long adjustable Velcro strap to secure it which allows it to be used with both 30 and 50 Lb cylinders. It's rated at 120V/300W and has a 4-foot power cord that terminates in a permanently encapsulated thermostat where it connects to the blanket. This blanket heats up quickly and obviously gets fairly warm during use so needs to be in constant contact with a tank to act like a heat sink. There is actually a warning stamped on the blanket stating that if you leave it plugged in without it being attached to a tank, it can be permanently damaged. There are other ways to achieve what this heater does, such as submerging the refrigerant cylinder in a 5-gallon bucket of hot water or by using a torch flame but, I personally feel that if for some reason you need to work in colder environments regularly, this blanket could likely be more convenient as well as safer than using an open flame.

5Heats tanks with refrigerant. Does what it suppose to.
By Mike
Works well, after I bought it I forgot about bucket with hot water to charge the system. YJ costs close to $400 at local well-known supply house, this one is about 125-130. Recommend!

5works fast
By redwatts
If you add refrigerant in the winter this is for you. It heats up fast (instant) and allows you to add refrigerant without having to have a bucket of water. I use an extension cord with alligator clips to attach to one side of the contactor and ground to allow me to use this at the condensing unit. great product
