Works, Kinda

I have used this tester for a home install. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It can show a short, then no short on retest. You get what you pay for. I would buy a more professional tester if I had to do it again. I had to borrow a friends to find out where there was a break in the cable as this tester doesn't give that info.

Nice little tool

This tool has saved me a lot of time troubleshooting. It not only tells if the cable is good or not but also tells what if any wires are disconnected. Very cool product works great

Used about 1 month, probably 15-20 installs. No problems so far. It is a fast and inexpensive tester. We've fried countless testers by hooking in a POE injector while the tester is still connected and this tester is rated for accidental voltages higher than the 12-48 volts that we use on our CAT5. We've not *tested* this rating yet but it has worked great so far.
