4Gret phone with a minor setback
By Larry
This phone is definately a step up form the previous model, but it still has its flaws. The new phone has many new features that i liked especially the 5.8 mhz band. A clear and bold LED display makes it easy to see at most angles and lighting conditions. The speaker phone is a nice addition to this phone. The 1 setback that they didnt or couldnt improve on both the older and newer models is, the moment the phone gets wet, water fills the mic and earpiece. This makes it virtually impossible to hear and talk on this phone. The only way to remedy that problem is with a big gust of air from your mouth or to bang it on your hand to knock the water out. Same thing goes for the speaker phone. Other than that, it makes a very convienient phone to use pool side or even in the shower.

5Improved so much...
By kane413
Compared to the previous model, WXI377, which I've owed for over two years, this model fulfilled most of my wishes what the older model lacked...For example, 5.8GHz digital spread spectrum is much more secure than the old 900MHz analog. Now the keyboard is also backlighted as well as the display. The onboard speaker is nice and comes in handy. You can expand the phone to have more handset(TWX977 will give you the very same handset) and have features like transferring a call, page, intercom and conferencing, etc. Phonebook has much larger capacity, and now you can store two numbers per name, and personalize the ring tone...Some same old problems still exist. The old WXI377 when it was submerged in bathtub, the cavity around the earpiece speaker would be filled with water that blocked the sound. I had to shake it vigorously get the water out, otherwise the volume would so low it was hard to hear the other party. The new model is still the same way, and shaking the water out would take more effort, seems to me. The chain dialing still only works when in a call(when you are connected, you can bring up the phonebook and dial another number. Works well for dialing a phone card access number first, then the real phone number from your phonebook). If you start by keying in a few digits, like "#0P"(I have a 2-line switch, #0 will access my other line. P is for a 1-second pause), you can't get in the phonebook and bring up another number onto the screen to concatenate them together then dial all at once...The one area it screwed up is the redial number. On the old phone when you display the number by pressing Redial, you can hit Delete button to delete the last digit by each press. So you can edit the number by getting rid of the extra digits last time you entered when on hold and "press 1 go to this menu" or "press 2 for voicemail", etc. The new model does not allow you to edit the redial number. Hit Delete will wipe out the the entire line. This is the only problem I can remember now, that doesn't exist on the old model before...UPDATE 6/22/08: If you want to expand, you don't have to buy the TWX977 Accessory Handset. Just buy another one of this, then set the base to a dumb charging station just like the TWX977, and deregister then register with the existing base (this what I've done. I've got two of these, ready to get a third one now). This way, if your old WXI477's base goes south, you can activate the other(though charging will be a minor problem, as you'd be left with one base and two handsets. But the system will still be functioning/limping.) My first was bought a year ago and second in Feburary of '08. So far, the first one's rubber piece surrounding the display, has deteriorated to make the two look not just half a year apart, but more like a couple years of use. The oil on my face has caused this, though I don't feel like I got particularly greasy face...

5great phone for outdoors
By Love to read
excellent for having by or in the pool. Also no concern if you accidently leave it outside during rain or humidity, it takes away the worry of accidently getting your cell or cordless wet.
