5Simple shaving, a pleasure. . .
By Suficook
This is a great product. If you're reading this, you're well aware that our forefathers had it right.PROS: It will last for years and as far as upkeep: the refills are VERY inexpensive (compared to most of what's available at the corner pharmacy). No more (plastic garbage) cartridges at $14 for ten! It takes a few minutes more to shave. Fast grooming is overrated. Take your time.CONS: Initial investment is a little spendy. To get your skin really silky smooth, you have to go against the grain a bit, which is a trick under the nose. As with any new razor type, it takes a few days for your sensitive skin to adjust.A few things to remember: no more looong strokes from under the chin all the way up to below the eye; that'll get you nicks and cuts. Better short little motions.

5Back Too The Future!
By C. Booker
This is a great safety razor! The slight slant causes the razor to move across the face like the straight razor did. It provides a barber shop quality shave, without the nicks! Truly reminds me of the days of closely shaving with a straight razor. The handle is a little short, but it that makes it easy to pack for travel.

5Krackow's review of slant bar Merkur
By Kenneth A. Krackow
I have used several of these razors over the course of more than 20 years. I am talking specifically about the Merkur Slant-bar. I see that people are uncertain about the rationale of the slant. It is simple. When pulling straight down, the blade is positioned so that it is cutting on an angle and giving a functionally sharper and possibly softer or gentler cutting of the beard. You can really do the same thing with any other shaver by just holding it or pulling it at an angle. And, you will see that the cutting proceeds as if the razor is much sharper. The cautions that others are raising are simply due to the fact that the opening aspect of the blade is wider than a lot of other razors; and, if you go too fast with too much pressure, you will cut the skin much deeper, possibly even getting a real nick. The slant-bar however, works as well or better than any I have ever used. Just go slowly, gently, and be careful to put the cutting aspect of the razor onto your face so that the handle is about 45 degrees to your sking, not too much or too little of the blade heading toward your skin.
