Expensive but Worth the Price

When I decided to get into the hobby of model railroading I tried taking the path of least expense. I was soon reminded of the aphorism, "You get what you pay for." Kato products maybe expensive,but in terms of quality they are well worth the price. Once the M1 track has been put together it stays together no matter how long or how fast you run the train. I especially like the design of the transfomer because the operation of the speed control is smooth and easy. The back of the box features illustrations showing what products you will need to expand and alter you layout. This is a smart idea on the part of Kato's marketing department and a convenience for novice railroaders like myself. Intially, I thought that the set had come without instructions. It turns out the instructions were housed in a cardboard drawer underneath the styrofoam packaging. The drawer has proven handy for storing extra train cars. It will hold eight cars inside their plastic cases. From the engineering to the packaging this is a brilliantly designed high quality product that I would recommend to anyone.

I bought this track set as an add on to unitrack already purchased. I find unitrack well suited to my temporary layouts. The transformer is a solid performer and works well with Kato's track and switch system.
