4Best pump I've used in my sump
By J. McNaull
This is the best pump out of the 3 or 4 that I've tried in my sump. It gave me three good years in a very wet/busy sump to keep my basement dry. Of only it had lasted another couple years! I replaced it with something cheaper from Home Depot that has been disappointing. I'm picking up a new one of these today at Grainger. This seller's price is on the high side. Shop around a bit.

5Happy camper

We use the pump to keep water out of our home elevator shaft. It works great for this purpose. It automatically removes the water without constant monitoring!

5So Simple and Easy - Saved my home from storm water.
By PumpMan
Every year my house in California gets at least one tropical deluge which dumps rain water so fast that my back yard drainage system can't keep up with it. The rain is heavy enough that the patio water level threatens to overflow into my bedroom. To make things worse, the first deluge of the season always washes all of the back patio's garden trimmings like left over small grass and plant clippings to the drain grate, and gets the grate to plug up, causing the natural flow of drain water to greatly decrease, causing a rising level of water to form a shallow lake in the back yard. So what I do is deploy this pump by merely screwing onto it a garden hose which has its other end in the street in front of my house; then I clean any debris from the "lake" drain, place the Rule 1800 pump over the patio drain, and plug it into a 110V receptacle. Voila! The pump quickly senses the presence of water and begins pumping 1800 gallons per hour from the back yard patio lake to the street in front of the house. After my first use of the pump this way, when I read about a tropical storm headed my way, I deploy the pump ahead of time, even though no rain may ultimately fall. This pump is beautiful in that it doesn't turn on until it senses that it is in water - so no wasted electricity, and you can relax if you are traveling away from home.
